Velscope® technology takes oral cancer screening to a new level. We are now able to detect cellular changes, such as that in cancer, years earlier. Treatment can then be undertaken earlier and better results are obtained.
You might not know it but the majority of periodontal patients are smokers. Smokers is the single biggest risk factor for developing periodontal disease and is a major factor in development of cancer. Therefore, a Velscope® exam is a part of our annual diagnostics for our regular patients and is performed free of charge at the first visit. Exams at the following years are at minimal charges and are strongly encouraged to monitor changes in all patients but especially in smokers!
By using this technology we are able to examine and detect any trace of abnormal tissue and take proactive action, and as mentioned we perform this service annually for our regular patients.
